The
new feeders of 'SERIES 5000' conform to current legislation
regarding electromagnetic compatibility and safety.
They are noted for their strength and reliability,
and for the quality of the components used.
These standard 6, 12 and 20 A versions are smaller and lighter.
The components are distributed in such a way as to facilitate installation
and periodic checks. In particular, the upper panel holds the input/output
system switches, the digital control instruments (can be bypassed when
not required) as well as the potentiometers and buttons for regulating
the output parameters. The lower front panel can be easily removed to
allow access to the terminal board.
On the same installation point, by means of a simple key, the feeder
can be set to function under direct current, or under constant potential
with the option of supplying an adjustable basic current..

SET-UP
Essentially
the feeder is made up of:
- Single-phase
transformer (T) with primary voltage 220 V
DC, secondary with outlets which can be switched
via the 'change voltage' button (CT) on the
terminal board. EMC filter, system switch
(IR), output switch (IU).
- Control
card to which the following control signals
are sent: SH (output flow), V (output voltage),
d.d.p. (signal of difference in potential between
electrode +E and tube -C).
- Single-phase
jumper with controlled diodes for adjusting
power according to the imposed parameters.
- Instrument
panel for electrical measurement and keyboard with
presetter for functioning at constant current or
constant potential and with calibration potentiometer.
PROTECTION
The
equipment is protected against:
- Transformer
failure, or failure of the rectifying unit via the
'IN' system switch on the front panel.
- Failure
of the output circuit under direct current via the
'OUT' system switch on the front panel.
- Excess
induced or atmospheric voltage, coming from the output
terminals, via appropriate metal oxide dischargers.
- Break
of connection cable to tube via electronic protection.
- Short
circuit to output terminals. The current is maintained
at the calibrated level with a max. transient of
50 ms by means of electronic limitation.
